Instructor Biography

Michael Bode

Background and Experience

Since 1977, Michael Bode has worked, supervised or managed in every aspect of the wastewater field: wastewater treatment plant operations, maintenance, pretreatment, laboratory, biosolids composting and collection systems operation and maintenance. He has been in management/supervision for over ten years. Mr. Bode has earned a Class IV Wastewater Works Operator certification from the Ohio EPA.

While serving as the Administrator of the City of North Royalton Wastewater Department, Mr. Bode led a successful campaign to fend off an attempt to privatize the department. He proceeded to be instrumental in devising and implementing a plan to reduce operating costs. This effort lowered sewer charges by 8% while maintaining all services.

Michael Bode has been an instructor for the Ohio Training Committee of Ohio (OTCO) since 2003. He instructs all wastewater courses and serves as OTCO’s statewide Wastewater Collection Systems Coordinator. He also conducts workshops on lift station operation and maintenance.

Mr. Bode is also involved with the Northeast Section of the Ohio Water Environment Association and the Sewer Pipe Users’ Group (SPUG). The Ohio EPA chose him to sit on a panel of experts who determined the duties of Collection System Operators for qualifications for state certification.

Michael Bode is currently serving as Assistant Service Director and Wastewater Operations Manager of the Village of Moreland Hills, Ohio where he is in charge of four package wastewater plants and six lift stations.
