Professor Dr. Jan Oleszkiewicz teaches and conducts research, development and applied engineering work in biological nutrient removal from wastewater and biosolids treatment with emphasis on nutrient recovery and management of resulting concentrated side streams. Conducts work on development of continuous aerobic granular sludge, on electrokinetic processes in sludge dewatering, disinfection and drying and on mainstream membrane bioreactor fouling control using electrokinetic methods of process control. Has diverse 35 years’ experience in international engineering consulting on biological nutrient removal plant design, biosolids processing, advanced anaerobic treatment and bioenergy projects including manure management. Educated at Wroclaw University of Technology and at Vanderbilt University, he has lectured and consulted on wastewater treatment and biosolids management in USA, Europe, Australia and Asia. He has published over 500 papers and several books in the field and is presently involved in biosolids and wastewater management master-plans for several cities in USA, Canada and EU.
He has won numerous awards and accolades including:
